Pet Growth
Mechanics
A comprehensive study on the physical maturation of Grow a Garden companions.
The Science of Hatch Weight
In **Grow a Garden**, every pet is born with a hidden attribute known as **Hatch Weight (Wh)**. This single value determines the entire growth trajectory of the pet. While you can only see the "Current Weight" in-game, the Hatch Weight is the true indicator of a pet's genetic potential.
Our research team has decoded the engine's weight formula, allowing you to calculate this hidden attribute with surgical precision.
The Growth Equation
Where **Wh** is the Hatch Weight attribute and **Age** is the pet's current years.
Entity Grading System
Based on the Hatch Weight attribute, pets are categorized into five distinct tiers. Knowing your pet's grade is essential before entering high-stakes trade negotiations.
Wh < 1.0kg
Common companions with linear growth.
Wh 1.0 - 5.0kg
The standard for active farming pets.
Wh 5.0 - 7.0kg
Rare genetics with accelerated scaling.
Wh 7.0 - 9.0kg
Extreme rarity. Highly sought by collectors.
Wh > 9.0kg
The 0.01% genetic tier. Maximum value.
Aging and Maturation
Pets age every 15 minutes of active playtime (or "AFK farming" in specialized zones). As they age, their mass increases following the **Scaling Trajectory**. An "Elder" pet (Age 100+) with "Titanic" genetics can weigh over 80kg, making it a massive asset for trade.
Juvenile Phase (Age 0-20)
The most volatile phase. Growth is rapid, and small differences in Hatch Weight are not yet visible.
Adult Phase (Age 20-100)
The growth curve stabilizes. This is the best time to calculate the exact Hatch Weight for trading.
Elder Phase (Age 100+)
Peak physical mass. Elder pets carry a "Prestige" bonus in the trading community.
Trading Tip: The Weight Trap
Never accept a trade based on current weight alone. A 5kg pet at Age 1 might look "heavier" than a 4kg pet at Age 20, but the second pet has far superior genetics (Hatch Weight). Use our **Hatch Weight Normalizer** before every trade to ensure you aren't being scammed by "Faux Weight" pets.
